Many things affect the way teenagers behave. Parents. Siblings. Friends. Knowledge. Lack of Knowledge. Everything they come in contact with changes their decisions. When interviewing Ms. McGarr from the Public Defenders Office in Hall County she said that kids placed on probation are more likely to go to prison than the system intended. This is due to the parents not being able to take them to their probation office to check in or meet their probation guidelines. So, parents have an influence once their child gets convicted of a crime. Before a crime, students will exhibit truancy which is mos likely due to a lack of supervision at home. According to Ms. McGarr, 8 out of every 9 sex offenses could have been prevented with better supervision. As we continued to research, it became apparent that supervision was directly related to the rate of teen crime.
